CIS - Certified Indoor Air Quality Specialist
View Excerpt from the IAQ Online Class
CIS Video Series
This business professional has received extensive training in indoor air quality including the technologies used to solve indoor air quality problems. Indoor Air Quality is a multi-faceted
problem and requires a multi-strategic approach to solving those problems. These professionals are familiar with the vertical markets that comprise the industry as well as specific applications
and onsite installation of purification and filtration equipment.
"The hallmark of our indoor air quality training is the ability to sell a solution rather than some 'silver bullet' peroported to be a solution. The IAQ Professional knows that every
environment is unique and the only proper way to make recommendations on improving that environment is to offer solutions prioritized in three areas, 1) immediate corrective measures dealing with
current needs, 2) installing IAQ management systems, and 3) supplemental implementation of the Sanitization Protocol. With this multi-strategic approach, IAQ will be improved and the client will
know that indoor air quality concerns are under 'new management' and controlled. This three pronged approach sets the CIS apart from others who are focused on only one issue within the
environment."
Doug Hoffman, NORMI Executive Director.
The CIS evaluates the home or office by taking a look at the Heating/Cooling systems, General Living areas and Moisture Prone areas as those might individually become source problems for
indoor air quality concerns. The CIS offers the ability to assist the client with tools from Do-it-Yourself programs to full-blown IAQ Inspections enabling the client to obtain an improvement in
indoor air quality that fits their needs, skill set and financial resources.
CIS - Bundled Course
The CIS bundled course allows access to even more certifications and modules.
IAQ Basics 101 - This training has been specifically designed to instruct you on the technologies involved in cleaning air indoors. Traditionally, the indoor
air quality industry was built around filtration and, although filtration is a very important part of the process, it is not the silver bullet or magic wand that can solve every IAQ problem.
Once you understand that indoor air quality is a complicated problem, it is easy to understand the solutions because a multi-faceted problem requires a multi-strategic solution. Our holistic
approach is the basis for all of our solution-based training programs.
PSP-IAQ - In this program you will be trained to assist the client to assess their own environment using a beautiful 32 page full-color assessment booklet. To
confirm their suspicions about their indoor air quality, a prepaid EnviroScreening Kit is provided with two samples and a laboratory report. This report is a qualitative analysis (not
quantitative) to help the client confirm for themselves the myriad of indoor air contaminants that may be lurking in their environment. Once the customer's suspicions are confirmed, you are
trained to develop an IAQ Blueprint personalizing recommended solutions to that specific environment.
QST - The Qualified Sampling Technician is trained in a process developed by NORMI™, National Organization of Remediators and Mold Inspectors, known as the NORM
IAQ Management Program. This program was designed to provide the client with a low-cost evaluation of the air and surfaces in his living environment.
Once certified through NORMI, free training is available to enhance implementation of solutions for the client. This training is currently broken down into two free modules and it is
recommended that the professional attended regularly scheduled CE Training through Best Training School to advance his training and practical field knowledge:
Technology Overview-This training, available in the member section at NORMI.org, specifies what technologies are recommended for the solutions offered by the CIS to this clients. These
solutions include high-tech air purification equipment, chemistries and monitoring equipment.
Selling IAQ Equipment-This training, available in the member section at NORMI.org, shows a business model connecting the CIS training to recommended solutions of the wholistic approach to
solving indoor air quality issues.
